Instead on an animal...

I'm giving away clothes this time. (Though last dog the dog was abandoned and abused so that doesn't count.) Remind me to tell that whole story it's interesting. OK I'm doing the great closet clean out in anticipation of fall. Most things that I simply don't like anymore I usually give to Goodwill but I have a few things that are nice and in good condition (but too small for me) so I thought I would give them to a friend (or just a random person who wants them): If you live out of state you can paypal me the shipping cost.

Up for grabs:
A pair of Ben Sherman skinny jeans a (small) size 26/32
a white ben Sherman button down Westminster cut x-small
Small Sweet Pea shirt 3/4 length sleeves red with white polka dots (From anthropologie)
A white Calvin Klein puffy jacket (cuts at the hip) It fits me fine but I just don't want it anymore.

So sadly enough I have to part ways with one of my cats. I plan to give away Isobel. She is a healthy five year old spayed cat. She's very very affectionate and low maintenance. If you know anyone who would be interested in adopted an adult female cat please, please let me know.

I'll make you something shiney...

If you can help me come up with an idea for the show at work. It needs to be Coney Island based like on a ride or something at Coney Island and it needs to be a song or a dance or a skit. So the only idea I have so far is having the kids pretend to be different animals on a carousel (even though I know there isn't one at Coney Island) Is anyone out there in LJ land feeling creative?

ps these are 8 year olds.

Query for the Well Educated

So I have committed myself to Public Interest Law for the time being. I'm working on my application for a fellowship at Brooklyn Law and I'm going to go up to Columbia on and ask if they have similar fellowships. I'm debating about doing the same for NYU. I have a really strong background in public interest work and my current job (working with at risk youth at PS 225 speaks to that) Anyways on to the point of this post. I know a lot of you have experience/work in/ higher education. I was wondering what you thought about applying for these fellowships. Do you think it will help my chances getting in to the school? Can you think of an specific fellowships you would recommend (say at a school you work for)? Or are there any national fellowships I could apply for even though I haven't been accepted yet.

Anyways I'm working on my fluffy happy I love public service essay if anyone wants to take a look.

The top of my gmail has "recycling tips" today's tip is "you can make a lovely hat out of previously used aluminum foil." I'm assuming someone at google is fucking around and it's a joke. Right?

I'm not even sure if this is real. I can't stop watching this:

http://www.prosebeforehos.com/video-of-the-day/05/31/jihad-on-american-society/

Like I watched it three times trying to figure out if it was real. No parent is that fucked up. Right? Right?

In other sunning news apparently as I've gotten older I've gotten more sun sensitive. Is this normal? It's reached the point of ridiculousness. I tried to sit outside for 15 minutes yesterday and apparently SPF 30 no longer cuts it. I turned bright red, it's more like an allergy than a sunburn. Anyways nothing short of baseball hat, sunglasses and SPF 70 seems to cut it if I want to make it from point A to point B.

It's not paranoia if you're always right. I'm sick of being right, I would love someone in my life to prove me wrong. Please it's an open offer, I'll buy a drink if you do it.

Sat, Apr. 14th, 2007, 12:49 pm

Thanks to whoever bought me a paid account! :)

Take my word for it.

Coming from a girl who flown nearly every airline in existence, a girl who has had her luggage lost, flights canceled, been squished in the center seat between fat men, who has slept not once but twice in the Cincinnati airport: NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER fly Spirit. I cannot stress this enough.

While we were sitting on the runway tonight AFTER we had begun moving we stopped, and we heard an announcement:*
"We just realized that we forgot a bunch of bags from connecting flights."
No, really.

*many other things went wrong, but this is the funniest.

Dear Men of New York City:

Leaving my house in the morning does not give you permission to sexually harass me. Do you actually expect me to stop and chat with you, because you've expressed verbal appreciation of my ass/lips/whatever available, inch of skin you can see? Are you showing off for your friends, or do you simply wish to demean me? Maybe this about something as simple as the size of your penis. I don't know, perhaps you should seek therapy. What amazes me is that your harassment continues unabated no matter what I wear. Why on once recent occasion I ventured into the cold in a down-filled jacket, baggy jeans, scarf and earmuffs. Nevertheless you took it upon yourself to express your interest in the three square inches of my skin you could see. I dread the summer when I will wear skirts and dresses. I must stress that simply because my legs are showing it does not follow that I will consent to have sex with you. Furthermore I am amazed at the variety of men who practice such harassment, not simply construction workers and dirty old men, but young, rich, white, black, hispanic and indian men. As for the one of you that physically grabbed my ass, you're lucky I was so taken aback. I still regret I did not smash your face into my knee cap. I can only hope NYPD will take my side if another one of you attempts to grope me while I walk down the street. I hope you understand my concern and in the future you'll show more restraint.

-Elizabeth

ed. while I really doubt anyone will read it here is a link to a great article by Cynthia Bowman. You have to scroll down a bit to find the link:

Reading this made me feel a tiny bit better.

Anyone around for the start of the year and think they can cat-sit for me? They're pretty low maintenance I promise. I'll pay you. If not anyone have ideas on what to do with them? I think they'd be miserable if I boarded them, and I can't take two cats to South Carolina and Georgia....

Please tell me you think this is really fucked up.

So I read an unsettling article in the New Yorker about the marketing of Barbie and Bratz.

The article compares Barbie and Bratz and quite frankly I wouldn't want my kid playing with either one. The following is a description of "Bling Bling Girls" Mattel's answer to Bratz:
"When they are not 'getting their groove on' the Bling Bling Girls are 'mall maniacs.' An animated video on the Barbie Wes site depicts them struggling to lay off shopping for a day. They manage only a brief visit to the park- where the puppies they coo over turn into high-heeled boots, the fountain spouts jewelry and clouds above them spell out 'SALE' before they give in and head to the mall."

...
I think I may write something longer and more in-depth on this.

More Fluff

So I realized I am about to graduate from college with virtually no pictures, mostly because taking out my camera and making people pose makes feels like an asshole. I'm also clumsy as hell and I worry I'll break my camera. Anyways so before I leave Boulder I'm determined to make up for this fact. My personal favorite in this collection is JP rocking the unicorn outfit. So brace yourself kinds I'm gonna be like a Japanese tourist here.
Oh, and my friends are hot as hell.
Ed. JP and Travis I added the rest of the pics for you.

Pictures. Seriously how hot are my friends? )
